The Round Rock

I have never seen one before

Found on the beach, Oceanside California ( Had never been there before)

It fits into the palm of my hand. It is dense and heavy and solid

Finish is smooth from the waves and ocean wear -or at least I think so

It weighs about 1/2 pound

How could a rock be so round and stay so big?

Was it part of a display or special stone wall?

Not really sure.. so I kept it

No the 1st rock I ever packed in my check on bag… but definitely is the biggest. ( Like a small cannonball)

I was nervous that my bag would be inspected- but it wasn’t

Somehow, that is not so reassuring

Did not want to take through security… would have been embarrassed if stopped..

Meanwhile, back to the Round Rock. It is now part of the many shells and rocks from beaches all over USA and the Caribbean in my open display.

The display grows and always attracts the attention of children.

I think they like the stories.

When you think about it, every rock, stone, pebble, shell, and the sand itself, has a story.

The tale goes round like the rock.
