Yes, we are Reciting the Florence Nightingale Pledge (can’t you see the lamp?)

Nurses taking oath while holding candle at event.

This is not my Nursing School Graduation photo… but it could be

We got pinned at a ceremony and could work as ‘Graduate Nurses ‘ the next day. (Meaning get paid as a Nurse’s Aide until you pass the State Boards).

If you were ‘trusted’ you could give everyone their pre-filled by the night shift Pre-op medications that morning

These were usually a set of 3 injections into some poor soul’s glute area

These were often narcotic/sedative/mouth drying drugs

You used a cartridge (stainless steel) syringe holder called a Tubex for at least one of these meds.

Putting the rubber tip back on after the injection could result in stabbing your own finger. If that happened… you stuck and bandaid on it and moved on.

Sometimes the needles were dull and you had to apply pressure to do the injection

But you were proud to be a nurse and this was state of the art care
